Drainage Water Management

Manage water levels effectively to improve field performance and sustainability — season after season.

Saturated Buffers

A saturated buffer is a conservation drainage practice geared toward removing nitrates from subsurface drainage tile lines. Saturated buffers remove very little, if any, land from production, require almost no maintenance and do not affect crop yields when placed in ideal sites.

Denitrifying Bioreactors

A denitrifying bioreactor is a water quality related conservation drainage practice used to remove nitrates from subsurface drainage tile lines. A water control structure is used to divert drainage into a large pit of woodchips, which uses carbon in the wood as an energy source in order to convert harmful nitrates into nitrogen gas.

Phosphorus Removal Structure

A phosphorous removal structure removes dissolved phosphorus from surface runoff, subsurface drain, or ditch flows consisting of a phosphorus sorption media within a containment structure.
